Collagen Banking Treatments

Treatments that promote collagen production can be very beneficial in improving skin quality, elasticity and firmness. Here is a breakdown of my favourite treatments.

For an intense course of treatments, for high energy, high impact, it has to be radiofrequency microneedling, combined with a protein skin booster, and dermalux flex LED light therapy. This is a course of at least six treatments one month apart. The skin in numbed, and then 25 gold plated microneedles are used to geenrate microtrauma. As they enter the skin, they release radiofrequency heat energy at three different levels which stimulates the fibroblasts to produce more collagen. The protein serum provides the skin with essential building blocks to repair, and the dermalux promotes healing. There is some redness and swelling for the rest of the day. This is great for evening skin tone, firming the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It can be for around the eye region, the upper and lower lids, and can be for face, neck and body too.

For a natural treatment, platelet risch plasma (PRP) has to be a favourite. This involves taking a small blood sample, using the centrifuge to separate the red cells from the platelet rich plasma. The platelets are covered in growth factors that stimulate healing and repair. The PRP is injected into the skin for regenerative benefits. It is used in medicine for helping to heal inflamed joined and tendonitis. It has been well studied and well evidenced and is very safe. It is a great option for people wanting a completely natural treatment with no injections of filler or toxin. It helps to promote even skin tone, reducing pigmentation, firms the skin and patients that have it, just love the effect. This requires 3 sessions a month apart, and then one session every 6 to 12 months.

I am back in favour of polynucleotides. Initially I used another brand and had less than satisfactory results, but having retrained, learnt a new technique, I am loving the results. Polynucleotides are the DNA and RNA proteins, that are the building blocks of our genetic code. They come from a salmon source. There is no trace of salmon left, but the DNA and RNA peices are put into a gel form and injected with fabulous results. Essentially the skin detects these cell fragments and considers there to be some local cell death, which would lead to DNA and RNA being released. The cells then go into a healing state, which involves producing more collagen and elastin. This firms the skin and gives impressive results. They require 3 sessions a month apart, followed by 6-12 monthly maintenance too. They are great for around the eyes, mouth and more generally the face and neck.

HarmonyCa is one of my most requested treatments and well loved by those that use it. It works as a dermal filler, adding definition and creating lift in the cheeks and jawline, but more than that, it also contains Calcium Hydroxyapetite which works as a stimulator for collagen production. Most filler is made of hyaluronic acid, our bodies natural moisturiser, but HarmonyCa works at improving the skin and collagen within the skin, as well as acting as a filler. It is this dual function, as to why my clients love it. The results last up to two years so it is an ideal treatment for people having regular cheek or jawline filler as these need to be repeated much less often, plus the skin benefits, it’s a win-win.
